For Cath (sans CHA) with love Blog Hop

I am joining in on the Blog Hop for Cath, who was not able to make it to CHA so this blog hop was organized to help make her feel better.

I couldn't stop at making one card, I made 2!

This first one is made with some My Little Shoebox papers and a stamp from The Stamps of Life. The ribbon is Vintage Seam Binding available at Ribbon Carousel.

Another one using some papers from My Little Shoebox along with the Jibber Jabber and the Talk to Me set (released on Feb 1) from The Alley Way and a sentiment from the Chubby Chums set from Paper Smooches.

I have used the Echo Park Victoria Gardens Collection on this card. It went together so quickly and easily, love that! The stamp is from PTI.

For my card I used my Kaleidoscope Pyramid Pack from Momenta, I love this paper pack, the colors are so fun and cheery. The cloud has been layered for dimension. The twine is from The Twinery and is available at Ribbon Carousel. I am also playing along with the Unity Friends With Flair, which I haven't done in awhile.

I used some new My Mind's Eye Paper along with a couple of The Alley Way Stamps ( Jibber Jabber and Priceless Joy). I cut the stars with my Cricut and a bit of Cappuccino twine from The Twinery as well. This is for the Kraft Journal challenge - tie it up; Scrapbook Essentials - pattern paper.

Shabby Dream frame

For the Lessology challenge we are asking for some Floral Delight. Fabric blooms? Paper flowers? Delight us with your spectacular floral creations!

I took this garage sale frame

And made it into this. The stencilled fabric (stencil cut with my Home Accents Cricut cartridge) was a scrap piece that I had. I used my Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge to cut out the flowers, wrinkled them and inked them and the vintage binding.

As soon as I saw the challenge I thought of my Elle's Studio papers and elements from Jessica Sprague. I mixed them with some Bella Blvd paper and cut out. Finally I added a Flashcard from Pretty Little Studio and some Divine Twine. This is for the Cupcake Craft challenge - love.

Another post for The Alley Way and I had a lot of fun with this one. I managed to combine all of the January Release sets onto this card. The Elephant is from Priceless Joy, the little Birdie is from Snow Much Fun, the Sentiment is from Jibber Jabber and finally the face on the balloon is from Kitchen Gadgets. Another fun card for one of my Grade One students. This is for the DYSU challenge - Pattern Paper; Crazy for Challenges - child's birthday card and the Paper Sundaes challenge - Paper Piecing.

Time for another Ribbon Carousel challenge. It is not my week to play but it was a sketch (you know I love sketches) and sponsored by Some Odd Girl, love them too.. so I had to play along!

Time for another (and final) Wee Memories challenge and this week we have a fabulous sketch drawn up by Angie!

For my card I also played along with the There She Goes challenge - Paper Piecing. I used a couple of fun stamps from There She Goes. On the front is an image from Domestic Goddess (so many fun ways to use this set!). I paired her up with some fun Let's Party Pyramid Paper by Momenta. I love the Pyramid collections by Momenta, you get a mixture of sizes from 6 x 6 to 12 X 12 perfect for cards and layouts and anything in between! The flash card is from Pretty Little Studio and the sticker is from one of the Momenta Sticker sets, again such a fabulous value and so many different types of stickers! Finally a bit of Twinery Cappuccino twine from Ribbon Carousel..

Now for the inside of the card I used a sentiment from the TSG set A Woman's Place, which I thought went perfect with the Momenta Sticker! LOL I think I may give this to my SIL as I know she would appreciate it!

I used the Kiss Tags set and adhered it to a little box that I made with my Cricut. The ribbon is some Vintage Seam Binding available at Ribbon Carousel. This is for the Our Creative Corner challenge - shapes.

For my project this week, I chose to do a layout. I used the Winter Wonderland papers available from Jessica Sprague to scrap a photo of one of my guilty pleasures... my Starbuck's Latte's. Over the holidays I really enjoy the Caramel Brule Latte. I cut the title with my Plantin Schoolbook Cricut cartridge and used the negative of the words rather than the letters, I like how this looks. The Snowflakes are cut using my Winter Lace Cricut Cartridge. The stickers are SRM Stickers and I have used a Word Flashcard from Pretty Little Studio and a Journal Tag from Elle's Studio. Finally all finished off with some Caribbean Twine from The Twiney.

Birthday Party Favors

I combined a couple of DT assignments for this projects... love when I can do that ;) For this month at Jessica Sprague I am to work with the Samantha Walker collection. I chose this Cuckoo 4 U Chocolate collection and the matching solids for this project. I cut the little boxes and numbers with the Sweet Treats Cricut Cartridge and the banner with the Art Philosophy cartridge. I assembled everything using the Glue Lines and Glue Dots. The stamp is from PTI. I thought these would make cute little party favors for a Little Girl Party. There is also a sneak peek of something, just can't say what yet...;)

I really liked this sketch at Pretty Little Studio so I had to play along.

I just got my Fancy Pants Love Story collection yesterday and I couldn't wait to use it! I took this picture of my girls on Christmas Day and am proud of myself for 'going outside the box' and not scrapping it with Christmas paper, LOL! I have also used some Pretty Little Studio Flashcards, some SRM Stickers and some Charcoal Twine from The Twinery. I used my Cricut Art Philosophy to cut the pennant and my Plantin Schoolbook Cartridge to cut the hearts.

We Finally Meet

I was very tired after work today. Yesterday it POURED rain all day and our fire alarm went off at school... outside for 40 minutes with a class full of little ones who have no coats on, it is pouring and they are cold. Other than that they were in all day. Today it POURED and was very windy... another in day... makes for a tired teacher ;) Then, I got some disappointing email tonight... I was going to wallow in it but I decided to head to my scrap room as I always feel better after playing a bit.

I used this fun sketch from Liz Qualman, I always love her sketches and her work.

I used some more of my stash, yay! I used my Apple Cheddar Soup by Jillibean Soup for this layout of me meeting my cousin for the first time... hence the 'family tree' kind of theme ;) I have also used some Caribbean Twine, available at Ribbon Carousel. The date sticker is from SRM Stickers.

As I Remember It

I didn't have a post scheduled for tomorrow so I went to my craft room to whip something up. Usually that means a card but after making and submitting 19 of them (and making some for DT assignments on top of that) the last few days I was carded out!

I used this sketch from Studio Calico:

I also played along with the City Crafter Challenge - to include a date. One of my December Activity Advent Calendar was for my girls to write down their ten favorite memories of 2011. I used a Cutting Cafe Journaling Card from the Jot it Down set for them to write it on, I then scanned it and printed it out on some pattern paper. I love that it included her handwriting. I used the Farmhouse Collection from Crate Paper along with some May Arts Jute Twine and some SRM Stickers. The pennants are cut with my Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge. Now so happy with this and that it came together in about an hour! This is also for the Cricut Circle Blog Monthly challenge

A couple of Sidewalks cards

When I saw that the challenge at If the Shoe Fits this week was to use your stash, I had to play along. At this time of year I am always feeling kind of broke so I am determined to use what I have - not to mention I need to make room for CHA stuff ;)

Anyhow I used my Sidewalks Collection from October Afternoon to make a couple of cards. This first card uses a stamp from PTI and of course some Twinery Twine.

Give it a Whirl

Well I had a great weekend and am slowly prepping myself for back to work on Tuesday. The mojo was really flowing for me this weekend. I managed to make 17 cards for submissions! Now crossing my fingers that some get picked up!

I enjoyed making my rainbow card the other day for DYSU and decided to put more of those scraps to good use. I used the die and stamp set from My Favorite Things along with the PTI cloud die and woodgrain embossing plate. I really liked how my twine wrapped branch turned out on this card so I decided to wrap the stick of the pinwheel with some Honeydew Twine from The Twiney.

Well Happy New Year everyone! Here we are in the year 2012, I can't believe it. Do you have any resolutions? Do you have a word for this year? I haven't really thought much about it, we shall see.

I thought I would post my first cards of 2012 with those that were published in the December 2011 CARDS magazine. This first one made with Bella Blvd is rather fitting isn't it?

This one is made with some Sassafas (so sad they are gone) and some Unity.

I did most of my 'chores' yesterday so I hope to play in my (clean) scraproom for most of today. What are you doing today?

Miles Between Us

Well it is time for another Wee Memories challenge and this week we have a new challenge for you. The challenge is 'New' - could be anything related to new - products, techniques or something new (baby, house, job, new years...)

I decided to use some new products. I just got a new pack of Love Me by My Mind's Eye and some new Peppermint Divine Twine and I paired them up with this Love Letter Kaylee image from Some Odd Girl that I have had for awhile now but not used and finally with my new Unity December KOTM that just arrived this week. Inside I stamped the remaining sentiment. I will be sending this card to my friend whom I try to keep in touch with but certainly not as much as we should.

I've been pinned!

Ok, so secretly I have wanted to see one of my projects on Pinterest, so it was kinda a 'goal' for 2012. It is a nice feeling that others like your work and that is why I share. I love doing what I do and if others like it, then it is a bonus. Anyhow I was surprised to see that I had been pinned! Yay and 3 items of mine have been pinned, that makes me happy. All Santa items (my how I love Santa), some tags and a card. The card is October Afternoon, and the tags are Echo Park and Pretty Little Studio ones.

Ok, so I made a mistake and published this to early so if you saw it already - Julie E I know you did, I had to delete the earlier post ;) sorry about that.

It feels good to get back into my craft room to play... I didn't craft for a couple of days ;)

I really liked this sketch from Let's Scrap so I made a card for it.

For my card I used my Pink Paislee Snow Day papers along with my Winter Wonderland Cricut cartridge to cut out the skates. I also used a Flashcard from Pretty Little Studio and of course some Blossom Twine from The Twinery. My Sister in Law

It felt good to do something just for myself and not only that but finally a layout! I used Echo Park's Happy Days to scrap this photo of me and my Sister in Law, I am very lucky to have her as a SIL and a friend, there is no one more giving and caring than her. Of course I have topped the layout off with some Honeydew twine from The Twinery and some SRM Stickers.

Farm Fresh Gift Basket

Happy Boxing Day everyone! I hope that everyone had a great Christmas, we sure did! Jason cooked dinner and most of his family came over. My family was here in the morning. Such a great day.

Caution, photo heavy post ;)

I have been waiting to post this gift basket that I made. I made it for my SIL and her hubby (and she is a facebook friend and would have seen it if I posted). A couple of years ago she decided she wanted chickens and her hubby made her a chicken coop and everything... they live in city limits. Anyhow, she loves her chickens and I love that she has a hobby... she always just doted on everyone else and it is nice she has something for her. Anyhow I decided to make a Farm Fresh themed gift basket after I purchased this rusty silver basket at a garage sale (the one in the back). I spray painted it and went from there.

Now inside the basket are some 'egg themed' gifts. I got her an Egg Cookbook, egg slicer, egg poacher and was really happy to find the old egg timer too (another garage sale item). The Farm Tractors book is a bit of a joke. We tease her about her little farm. However, her hubby likes 'coffee table' books and vintage items so I was hoping he would like this. This is for the Just Add Ink challenge - packaging.

Now no gift basket would be complete without some hand crafted items from me.

So I dug out some Farmhouse paper by October Afternoon, some Unity stamps (Farm Fresh and Provencial), some Charcoal Twine from The Twinery and my Cricut and went to work. This is for the Unity Challenge - Gift Packaging.

There is just something about that egg timer...

For the napkins, I cut out the rooster (I know, not really egg related but the chicken I had wouldn't work) with my From My Kitchen Cricut cartridge and used it as a stencil as I sponged on some black paint. I used the Removable Glue Dots to hold it in place while I did this. I then stamped over top with this Provencial Collection stamp from Unity. I love how they turned out.

Now the ledger paper in the October Afternoon Farmhouse collection was perfect for making some tags. I then stamped the Farm Fresh stamp by Unity on some white cardstock, punched out and adhered. I tied on some extra long twine so that she could wrap it around a carton of eggs.

Finally, I am proud of this sign too. I saw a similiar one on Etsy for about $20 or $25 and I decided I could do my own. I had some scrap blocks of wood laying around (got them for free when the school was getting rid of them). After layering and sanding of the block with a few colors I was happy with the result. I then used the Cricut Plantin Schoolbook cartridge to cut out the letters and once again, used them as a stencil. I then sanded lightly after painting the letters on. I know she will like this in her chicken coop... she has purchased some items from Pier One for it too!

ETA: My SIL loved the gift, especially the sign it is the first thing that she picked out! Her hubby loved the Tractor book, yay!

Soup Gift Basket

This is my final post before Christmas, I hope that everyone has a great Christmas!

For this 'Something to Warm You up on a Cold Winter Day' basket it all started with this dish I got at a garage sale:

This basket is for my BIL who is a bachelor. I built the basket around the bowl. The metal basket was chrome and I sprayed it black. The soup in a jar is Turkey noodle soup - we will send some of our turkey leftovers home with him after Christmas dinner so he has some to add to the soup. I then purchased a Soup cookbook and a ladle. I made the napkin with a cut out from my From My Kitchen Cricut cartridge, once again using the Removable Glue Dots to hold it in place. Finally in the back are some socks, as I figure everyone can use new socks.

Gift Card Holders

I am just finishing up my Christmas projects and played along with a couple of challenges with them: First, the color challenge from The Play Date Cafe:

And I played along with the Pals Paper Arts challenge - tags. I made these gift card holders out of some Echo Park Season's Greetings. They are for my mom and dad, love the sticker on my dad's - he is definitely 'borderline' ;) To make them I used the Seed Packet Die from PTI and some Charcoal twine from The Twinery and some May Arts Jute available from Ribbon Carousel.

Next up some items using more of the Charcoal Twine from The Twinery, and some Canvas Corp papers. I love the colors of all of this. I cut the pillow boxes with the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge.

I used my Echo Park Season's Greetings papers along with the TSG HoHoHo stamp set a flashcard from Elle's Studio and a bit of twine from The Twinery.

Italian Gift Basket

Here is another garage sale item that I fixed up for part of a Christmas Gift. I love when I get to do some upcycling!

When hubby and I were in Seattle in the summer, we picked up some Italian cooking items from the Public Market (pasta, rice pasta, balsamic vinegar, basil oil, and a few other items). I repainted the box above with an Italian feel. I used my Cricut to make a stencil and used my Removable Glue Dots to hold it in place. This is not my normal style (I am more of a Shabby Chic/whiteness style) but I am happy with the result. This is for the Just Add Ink challenge - pretty packaging.

Cookie Cutter ornaments

Cookie Exchange

I went to a cookie exchange tonight. My mom is in one and has been for a long time. I used to do one when I lived in Castlegar but haven't done one in a few years. Mom invited me to go with her group. We went for dinner at a very nice restaruant then exchanged our cookies.

Here are my cookies all done up (yes a Pinterest recipe). Of course all wrapped up with some Marachino twine from The Twinery - the ladies asked where I got it from - maybe I'll get some of them hooked ;)

Family Movie Night Gift Basket

I love making theme baskets for Christmas and this is the first of the ones I will show you. I call this my 'Pinterest' gift as a few of the items were inspired from Pinterest. The whole theme came together when I saw the cute little snowman microwave popcorns. When I saw it on Pinterest, I came up with the idea of the Movie Basket.

The tin that it is packaged in, is actually an old roasting tin that I picked up at a garage sale for $1! I spray painted it red (I went for the red/black/white combo for movie) and I thought it was perfect for this. It could later be used as a Christmas decoration, which is why I didn't add any 'movie' lettering to it, the thought was there though. Inside the basket is: a blanket, a movie, Christmas colored smarties, chocolates, microwave popcorn, wine (for the adults) and some homemade pretzels, candy cane popcorn, candy cane hot chocolate mix and peppermint oreos.

A close up of the snowmen popcorn (they have 3 kids, hence 3 popcorns). These are what inspired the whole gift. I used some Black V Striped twill to tie around the mitten touques. There is a free printable for these snowmen here

Here are the homemade items in this basket. All the baked goods are wrapped up in Marachino twine from The Twinery. The recipe tag on the Hot Chocolate mix (the jar was another garage sale item 25 cents!) is an Elle's Studio printable available at Jessica Sprague. Once I had the idea of the movie theme and wanted mostly red and white, then I went with the Candy Cane theme for the goodies and the popcorn, cookies and hot chocolate mix were all recipes I found on Pinterest. So it really isn't a time waster ;)

I really love how this turned out. I have a couple more gift baskets to share but one will have to be after Christmas as the recipient is a Facebook Friend and would see the project.

Christmas Cheer

Hi everyone, I am in the midst of lots of Christmas prep. Still making gifts and baking. Wanted to pop in and share a gift card holder I made. I played along in the Some Odd Girl challenge as well as the Scrapbook Essentials challenge.

I used my Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge to cut out the tag. The sentiment is from PTI, the image is Mistletoe Kaylee, I just put an 'ornament' sticker in place of the mistletoe (which of course has the recepients initial), which is hanging by a bit of twine from The Twinery. I paper pieced her dress with some Holly Jolly paper by Echo Park. On the back of the tag is a pocket to hold a gift card.

I interrupt this holiday schedule for some more non holiday items. I have used the Queen of Quirk Lucky Duck collection, available at Jessica Sprague. This paper is just beautiful! I used my Cricut Art Philosophy to cut out the pillow box and flowers. The ribbon is some Olive Vintage Seam Binding available at Ribbon Carousel. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink. This also went together so easily using my Glue Lines and Glue Dots. I love that the Glue Dots come in sooo many different sizes!

I used my Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge to cut out the tags, then stamped them with a Unity Ledger Background stamp. The papers are the Christmas Wishlist collection from Pretty Little Studio. I have also used a My Time Sentiment Stamp and some stamps from The Stamps of Life for these. Finally, some Peapod twine from The Twinery and once again the image is from Pretty Little Studio.

Now the funny thing is, I uploaded these to 2Peas earlier than here and I saw that these tags were in the Top 3 by Views in the Cardmaking Gallery!

Gingerbread Gift

Well I should be getting to my baking but I got sidetracked by a couple of challenges... at least I have a gift out of the way ;)

Do you remember this post, when I showed you my Gingerbread Themed Gift Basket? Well the funny thing was, that my friend was the one who ended up getting it (we do a secret present game at out staff party). It was perfect because she likes to bake, and she hosts a Gingerbread House making party at her house every year. Perfect gift for her!

Anyhow, Danica gets invited to the party and I always bring a hostess gift. I decided to give her a bag of Gingerbread Biscotti. Well what better tag for the gift than more Gingerbread Land collection from Nikki Sivils?! I also used a Baker Kaylee image from Some Odd Girl, only I replaced the cupcake in her hand with a gingerbread man sticker from the collection. I cut the tag with my Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge. The stamped sentiment is from Gina K. Finally, it is all tied off with some Cappuccino Twine from The Twinery. I decided to play along in the Unity Gift Wrapping Challenge. I used my Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge to cut out the tag. I then stamped it with my Unity Background Ledger stamp. I used some Echo Park Times & Seasons papers and brad and the image is one of my own digi images that I scanned from an old Christmas card. The twine is the Charcoal twine from The Twinery.

ETA this tag was in the Top 3 at 2Peas in a few galleries AND now it has been featured on the Unity Facebook page! What a start to a great week!

Queen of Quirk Card Set

I enjoyed my break from Christmas stuff (see my Valentine's post below) and decided to play with some more non holiday items. For this card set I used the Country Mouse Collection by The Queen of Quirk which is available at Jessica Sprague. Isn't this such pretty paper? I don't do 'pretty' often, I usually do fun and CAS so this was really a nice change. The Vintage Seam Binding is from Ribbon Carousel and I used Olive and Sky Mauve for these cards. I also used some Papertrey Ink stamps (Tea For Two, Garden Variety) and dies. To make the paper roses, I just punched a circle from some of the paper and then spiraled it to form the flower, so easy. One of my cards (the one in the holder) was inspired by Lynn's card. I love the sketch and used it for my card.

Valentine Goodie Boxes

Welcome to another Wee Memories challenge. This week is another easy one - Anything Goes.

I decided since it was an Anything Goes challenge, that I would combine it with my Glue Dots® DT assignment. We are to create Valentine/ Wedding projects. Kind of obvious what I decided on ;) I used some Papertrey Ink Paper and Template to create the bags. I assembed them with some Glue Lines. I used both the Continuous Glue Lines and the 1" ones. I then applied some Glue Lines to the back of the Pretty Little Studio Flashcards and wrapped them with some Caribbean Twine from The Twinery. Finally I punched out some hearts and adhered the bottom one with some Glue Dots and the top one with some Pop Glue Dots.

These will be for hubby and my girls and filled with some yummy chocolates on Valentine's Day.

Upcycled Box

Another upcycled project for me, yay! I love giving handmade gifts, especially from the kitchen and I love upcycling. This project combines both. I had this project on the Scrap-Mart blog yesterday. I recovered and old Saran Wrap box with some Crate Paper's Peppermint collection and voila an easy upcycled box to give some of our homemade goodies in. We will probably use it for one of our neighbor gifts. The cute holly accent was on a gift I received the other day and I thought it was perfect for this. Lots of upcycling, I love it! Now I better get busy on the goodies... ;)
